[Curator News]Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu, Member of IOC, Chairman of IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission, and Curator of Xiamen Olympic Museum, Met With Italian Prime Minister

On June 24th,Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu, Member of IOC, Chairman of IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission, and Curator of Xiamen Olympic museum attended the 134th IOC session,listened to the briefing of 2026 bidding cities,and voted.Finally, MILAN-CORTINA were awarded the Winter  Olympic  Games 2026. Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu, expressed his congratulations to Giuseppe Conte,  the Italian prime minister.

Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu was among the 82 members present at the IOC session.  

Milan-Cortina was chosen to host the Olympic Winter Games in 2026 after receiving 47 out of a total of 82 votes, and Stockholm-Åre receiving 34 votes, with one abstention. 


Giuseppe Conte, Italy's prime minister, stressed that his country hoped to host the 2026 games and that hosting the Olympics was the dream of the whole country, not just the government, but everywhere.


It has been 13 years since Italy hosted the winter Olympics last time. In 2006, in Turin, Italy,the 20th Winter Olympic Game was hosted. In 1956, the 7th winter Olympic Games were held in Cortina d 'Ampezzo, Italy.


The IOC will support the staging of the Olympic Winter Games Milan-Cortina with a contribution of 900 million US dollars.
