Publish date:2020-3-31   Pageview: 689

In order to recognize and encourage the countries and social organizations that contribute to the promotion of the Olympic movement, the IOC plenary session decided in 1906 to award the Olympic trophy to the national and regional Olympic committees or other social organizations that are respected by the public and have made outstanding achievements in the development of the Olympic movement.

The treasures and sharing exhibition hall of Xiamen Olympic Museum is mainly based on Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu's personal Olympic collection and exhibition in the past 30 years. In this exhibition hall, the torch, medal, badge, mascot, commemorative medal, stamp, commemorative seal, sculpture and other kinds of Olympic treasures are exhibited. Through the physical display, people are able to understand the history of Olympic development, as well as the characteristic culture of each host country and city.

Hello, everyone, I'm Zhang Shiqi, the volunteer of Xiamen Olympic Museum. When we think of the Olympic Games, we naturally think of the medals and trophies that represent honor in the major sport events. The collection that I'm going to present to you today is the trophy of sweat and glory – The Gold-plated Trophy from Lithuanian National Olympic Committee.

First, let's take a look at what a trophy is. A trophy is a reward given to a person or organization that has excelled in a particular field, especially in large-scale touring sports where players compete fairly to win and the winner is rewarded with something by the sponsor. The metal trophy is the most commonly used trophy, which consists of the main body and the base, giving the winner the highest honor. The Gold-plated Trophy from Lithuanian National Olympic Committee is based on the design concept of the torch. It is divided into two parts: the uncarved orange amber on the top represents the flame, and the cup on the bottom represents the torch. The design comes from Lithuania, a small country in eastern Europe. Speaking of Lithuania, it is a world microstate smaller than the Vatican. Many people's first impression of it is of the former Soviet republics. In fact, Lithuania is an interesting country with eastern European literature and art. Known as the Uupis Republic, full of artists, so to create such a creative trophy is no wonder.

The Gold-plated trophy was casted with full passion for Olympics. I am Zhang Shiqi. See you next time.
