“Museums Connect All Things”: Xiamen Olympic Museum Successfully Hosts 5·18 International Museum Day & Study Tour Promotion Series

On May 21, 2026, in response to the 50th International Museum Day theme “Museums: Bridges Connecting the World”, and coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the Xiamen Olympic Museum grandly held the “Museums Connect All Things” International Museum Day Special Exhibition and Study Tour Promotion. Through diverse formats such as renewed exhibitions, study tour exchanges, and cultural performances, the event built a bridge for mutual learning among civilizations and empowered the high-quality development of museums.
The event was guided by the Xiamen Customs Working Committee for the Care of the Younger Generation, hosted by the Xiamen Olympic Museum, and strongly supported by the Fujian Civil Engineering and Construction Industry Association, Xiamen Xinghe COCOPark, Xiamen Baobab Biotechnology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Xiamen Huiyu Bay Yacht Club, Nuo Siti Culture and Sports Park, Xiamen Zhishangchun Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., Xiamen Siming District Guanyin Mountain Music School, and Xiamen You Tianquan Mineral Water Co., Ltd. Guests from the cultural, educational, and sports sectors gathered together to explore new paths for the development of cultural heritage and discuss a new future for study tour innovation.

The event kicked off with a vibrant cultural performance. The cheerleading routine "Light Points" presented by Xiamen Siming District Guanyinshan Music School showcased dynamic energy, fully embodying the youthful vitality and enthusiasm of the participants.
The Tai Chi team from the Third Squadron of the Bridge Team (Qianpunan Community) performed the 36-form Tai Chi Fan routine "Sheepherding Melody," seamlessly blending strength and grace to showcase the charm of traditional Chinese sports.
The Qianpu Morning Exercise Team gracefully performed the soft tennis routine "Where Dreams Take Flight," conveying the boundless joy that exercise brings to life and setting a warm, enthusiastic tone for the entire event.
sequently, Ms. Wu Yun, Deputy Director of the Xiamen Olympic Museum, on behalf of the Xiamen Olympic Museum and its Director Mr. Wu Jingguo, extended the warmest welcome to all attending leaders and guests. This event is closely aligned with the theme of International Museum Day, featuring a special exhibition titled 'Olympic Connections: A World of Museums – 518 International Museum Day'. The exhibition showcases a carefully selected collection of 850 precious items donated by the Olympic Movement (OMN) organization from the old Lausanne Olympic Museum in Switzerland to the Xiamen Olympic Museum. These items span numerous fields, including treasures produced by the International Olympic Committee, various National Olympic Committees, international and intercontinental sports federations, as well as memorabilia related to different Olympic Games and other exciting sporting events. Additionally, some works by outstanding artists are included. This allows citizens and tourists to encounter global cultural symbols and appreciate the world's diverse colors without leaving Xiamen. For many years, the museum has been deeply engaged in the dissemination of Olympic culture, consistently rooted in the public and connecting the world. It has innovatively developed a study-and-research system to break down classroom boundaries and academic barriers, guiding teenagers to step out of textbooks and into museums. Through immersive experiences, they can perceive the charm of culture and gain growth strength through exploratory practice, achieving the vision of seeing the world through museums and realizing themselves through practice. In the future, the museum will continue to deepen its efforts in Olympic culture communication and gather more forces to promote the vigorous development of public welfare cultural undertakings.
Having long been dedicated to the dissemination of Olympic culture, the museum has always been rooted in serving the public and connecting the world. It has innovatively developed a study tour system that breaks down classroom boundaries and disciplinary barriers, guiding young people to step out of their textbooks and into the museum, where they can perceive cultural charm through immersive experiences and gain growth through exploratory practice – enabling them to see the world in the museum and achieve self-fulfillment through action. The core segment of the event – the “Museums Connect All Things” Study Tour Promotion and Exchange Meeting – officially commenced. The event featured joint presentations by six organizations, with rich content and numerous highlights:
Mr. Wang Zhiqiang, General Manager of Xiamen Baobab Biotechnology Co., Ltd., shared new directions for outdoor sports study tours that integrate the Olympic spirit with baobab tree culture.
Ms. Zhuang Wanna, Founding Chairperson of Fujian Rope Skipping Association, detailed the project “Fusheng into Ten Thousand Households”, explaining the features and value of integrating rope skipping into study tour programs, which greatly inspired the guests.
Nuo Siti Culture and Sports Park presented its future master plan of “One Mountain, One Water, One Park”, introducing a study tour system that combines mountain sports, water leisure, and ecological sports, creating a new landscape for comprehensive sports study tours, and sharing the park’s diverse cultural and sports activities.
Mr. Chen Duo, General Manager of Huiyu Bay Sailing and Yacht Club, promoted water sports, covering sailing, yacht experiences, and water-based team building, highlighting the unique advantages and practical value of coastal sports study tours, offering young people a new experience of getting close to the sea and challenging themselves.
Representatives of the Fujian Civil Engineering and Construction Industry Association and Xiamen Mutan Technology Co., Ltd. unveiled a tripartite plan to jointly develop a civil engineering study tour project and supporting thematic exhibition, as well as self-developed distinctive hands-on engineering construction experience courses, full of fun and interactivity.
Mr. Yang Jingji, General Manager of Xiamen Zhishangchun Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., introduced the special souvenirs of the event and shared the automated production line of their Chinese-style pastries, allowing guests to appreciate the quality control and innovative thinking behind the modern production of traditional snacks while tasting the craftsmanship.
The Xiamen Olympic Museum released its study tour curriculum, systematically introducing its permanent exhibitions and special thematic displays. It provided detailed explanations of the Olympic core values study tour program, the ideological and political study tour themed on “Champion Role Models”, the martial arts study tour “Cultured Martial Arts – Champion Youth Study Tour Camp”, the marine study tour “Exploring the Heartbeat of the Blue Ocean”, the intangible cultural heritage ancient architecture archaeology study tour course, the I Ching series study tour, the cross-strait youth sports study tour camp (held in phases), the Olympic-themed English corner, the Olympic Museum picture book music club, the “We Paint the Olympics” activity, the ancient and modern sports study tour, the “Olympics at Your Fingertips” craft experience, and the Olympic sport experience study tour program. The museum also presented self-designed situational plays: “The Story of a Snowflake”, “The Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony”, and outdoor sports development base courses at Xiamen Baobab Biotechnology Research Institute. This promotion introduced the rich study tour and tourism resources of the Xiamen Olympic Museum to tourists and travel agencies, while taking the opportunity to build a platform for cooperation with the tourism industry, jointly exploring the market and achieving mutually beneficial interaction with travel agencies and enterprises.
A formal cooperation signing ceremony was held. The Xiamen Olympic Museum successfully signed agreements with Xiamen Xialv International Travel Service Co., Ltd., Xiamen C&D Travel Group (Wanqian Study Tour), and Fengyun (Xiamen) International Travel Service Co., Ltd. Based on the integrated development concept of “Museum+” and “Culture & Tourism+”, they will jointly open a new chapter in youth study travel and mutual assistance of cultural tourism resources, building a new landscape for the development of study tours and cultural tourism.

Finally, with the blessing of a bubble machine, the special exhibition “Museums Connect All Things – International Museum Day 5·18” was officially unveiled, bringing the series of events to a successful close.
