On September 2nd, 2018, Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu , member of the International Olympic Committee and Chairman of the IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission, was invited to attend the closing ceremony of the 2019 Cross- Strait "Nanjing Cup" High School Basketball Invitational Tournament in Nanjing, Jiangsu province and presented Awards.

The event was held at Nanjing No. 9 Middle School, guided by the provincial Taiwan affairs office in Nanjing , the provincial sports bureau in Nanjing and the basketball association of Jiangsu province，and sponsered by Taiwan affairs office of Nanjing, Nanjing sports bureau and Nanjing education bureau， co-organized  by Nanjing No. 9 middle school , Nanjing school basketball alliance office, and Nanjing Securities Co., LTD and Nanjing Steel Group Construction Co., LTD.  The participating teams include four traditional powerful teams from Nanshan High school of Xinbei city, Taipei Song-shan Senior High School, Nengren High School of Home Economic and Commerce of Xinbei City, and Kaohsiung Municipal Sanmin Vocational High School of Home Economic and Commerce. They compete with four powerful  teams from Nanjing No. 9 High School, Shenyang No. 31 High School, Jilin Experimental High School, Dongguan Guangming High School, etc. The competition will last for five days.

The 2019 Cross- Strait "Nanjing Cup" High School Basketball Invitational Tournament is aimed at strengthening cross-strait exchanges and enhancing friendship.Arranged by the organizer, those High school students from both sides of the straits will go to scenic spots in Nanjing to experience the historical deposits of the ancient capital and the heritage of Chinese culture.
